66th Annual Meeting Recap

Triangle Federal Credit Union's 66th Annual Meeting was held on March 24, 2026, at Lion Hills in Columbus, welcoming a standing‑room‑only crowd of members for an evening of fellowship, transparency, and celebration. Members received updates on the credit union’s financial performance and strategic direction, reinforcing the cooperative values that guide Triangle FCU.

During the meeting, Triangle FCU recognized the dedicated service of its Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee, expressing appreciation for the leadership and oversight they provide throughout the year. As elected representatives of the membership, the Board plays a vital role in guiding the credit union’s mission, ensuring strong governance, and supporting strategic decision‑making that keeps Triangle FCU financially sound and member‑focused. The Supervisory Committee, appointed by the Board, provides essential independent oversight to ensure the safety, soundness, and integrity of the credit union. Together, their commitment continues to reinforce the strength and accountability of the organization.

The highlight of the evening was the induction of John Gibbons, Jr., into the Triangle Federal Credit Union Hall of Fame by Board Chairman Debbie Ragon. Gibbons served as President/CEO from January 1, 1987, until his retirement on December 31, 2024, guiding the institution through 38 years of growth and modernization. Under his leadership, Triangle FCU expanded from $10 million to more than $110 million in assets and grew from one location to five branches across the Golden Triangle. He also championed important technological advancements that strengthened operations and elevated the member experience. His influence extended beyond Triangle FCU as well; in May 2024, he was inducted into the Mississippi Credit Union Hall of Fame, an honor that reflects the far‑reaching impact of his decades‑long leadership within the credit union movement.

Gibbons was joined at the celebration by his wife, Renee; daughter, Sara Cox; son‑in‑law, Justin Cox; and grandchildren, Bea and JAC.

The Annual Meeting also honored outstanding employees for their contributions throughout 2025. Elizabeth Varvel received the Accuracy Champion Award for maintaining a perfect balancing record all year. Nisha Hoskins earned the Transaction Champion Award for completing an impressive 21,146 transactions. Community Champion Awards were presented to Cindy Adair, Tia Marshall, Maria Snell, Destinee Thomas, and Shea Watson for their meaningful efforts supporting members and the wider community. Culture Champions included Hailey Bohon, Brooke Hagood, Natalie Leigh, Rachel McMurry, and Victoria Suber, recognized for uplifting their teammates and fostering a positive work environment. Valarie Williams received the Member Advocate Award after being nominated by members for her exceptional service, and Sarah Beth Brown was honored with the TRY‑Angle Award for consistently demonstrating teamwork, reliability, and a willingness to step in wherever needed.

While these awards highlight individual excellence, President/CEO Kimberly Guyton emphasized that they reflect the overall strength, unity, and service‑driven culture of the entire Triangle FCU team. The evening was a celebration not only of achievements but of the cooperative values that continue to guide the credit union forward.

The 66th Annual Meeting underscored Triangle Federal Credit Union’s commitment to its members and its mission. From the record‑setting attendance to the heartfelt recognition of leaders and team members, the event served as a reminder of the power of community, ownership, and shared purpose.
